Scoliosis

At the age of 13 ,this client had undergone a seven hour operation on her back to reverse a condition called Scoliosis ( an 'S' shaped curve of the spine). She had two metal rods inserted either side of her spine. After six months she was back at school, but still in a lot of pain requiring regular use of painkillers, often taking twice the recommended dosage to cope with the pain. At the time the doctors said she would have the pain for the rest of her life, possibly requiring a stronger dosage. This went on for a few years gradually getting worse.

The client first came for BSR three and a half years ago. She was in a lot of pain and taking many painkillers. To begin with the client came for weekly 'releases'. After a few weeks she was able to cope with the pain much better and was able to go for longer periods between 'releases'. As time passed, the client was able to stop taking painkillers altogether and felt much fitter.

The client then continued to come for a maintenance visit every 6-8 weeks. She was no longer in pain, and has given birth to two children naturally and without excess pain.

However the client then experienced a set-back. She started coming for releases more frequently as she was in a lot more pain. The practitioner suggested that it would be a good idea for her to see her GP to get a diagnosis and x-ray. It was found that one of the rods had snapped. It was decided that surgery was needed but until they operated, the surgeons did not know if they would have to replace the rods or remove them completely. During the operation, the rods were completely removed, which was the decision that the client was hoping for.

In the run up to the operation, the client came for BSR every 7-10 days as this kept the pain at bay. She continued with BSR, following the operation; and although her back hurt from the operation and the healing process it was going through, she was in a lot less pain and discomfort than she has been for some time.

Parents brought their 9 year old girl for BSR. She had been diagnosed with Scoliosis (an 'S' shaped curvature of the spine) and was suffering with neck pain. Her parents were keen to avoid her having an operation, which would involve inserting a metal rod attached to the spine to pull it straight. They were quite prepared to bring her for BSR for the rest of her life if it meant that she could avoid an operation.

Arriving for the second 'release' she reported that she had no neck pain and was feeling fine.

Over the next 10 weeks, attending for BSR at weekly intervals, the child's back started to straighten and the ridge of muscle that had developed on her left side in the lower back had flattened and was not as raised. In addition, her right shoulder, which had been raised and protruding , was now flat and level with the left side. She feels much happier and less conscious of her figure when wearing summer clothes.

A girl of 15 years came to BSR diagnosed with Scoliosis. Her parents brought her to see if BSR could help with the discomfort and pain she was in.

Seeing her for regular weekly releases and then fortnightly, after a short time her pain had subsided and she was regaining more flexibility and was able to start her dancing again, which she had been missing.

After a six month period, she had a second x-ray. She had been told by the medics that the curve could stay the same position, as measured by the surgeons in degrees, or usually the curve becomes a greater degree of curvature. Amazingly, her curve had improved; and was actually 12-14 degrees straighter than the first x-ray.

BSR had helped release the stress and tension in her body, this resulted in the body being able to straighten up and return to its nature position.

By the time of the operation the surgeons had said that the operation was not really necessary, but it went ahead, with only a very small procedure required.
