The Body Stress Release Academy Europe
Train to become a highly skilled Body Stress Release practitioner and start your new career
In the words of Gail Meggersee, one of the founders of Body Stress Release (BSR), the vision of BSR is “to be a catalyst for the dynamic upgrading of people’s lives… In BSR we empower people in their lives, through helping to restore the natural self-healing capacity of the body”.
We train people from all walks of life who, having experienced the benefits of BSR, decide to change direction for a highly rewarding and incredibly satisfying career, enhancing the wellbeing of others and helping them on their healing journey.
The BSR course offers you the rare opportunity to step away from your day-to-day life and totally immerse yourself in the experience of living and studying with your fellow students on this incredible journey whilst learning the technique of BSR, with the end result of becoming a fully qualified Body Stress Release practitioner.
Taking part on this course offers you a rare opportunity to take time out from your day-to-day life to focus on your own interests and goals – you could consider this chance at a new career as a gift to yourself.
Course Format
The course runs over a 16-week period from the beginning of November through to early March, with a two or three week break over the Christmas / New Year period. Class hours are 9am – 4pm four days a week with an hour and a half break for lunch (to enable you to both have lunch and also to enjoy a walk in the beautiful countryside while it is still daylight). There is also one half-day per week finishing at 1pm, either on a Wednesday or Friday. Classes are taught using a variety of resources including videos, presentations, demonstrations, and drawings.
You will start hands on work in the very first day of the course and, over the following weeks, the knowledge you gain in Anatomy classes (be it osteology, myology, arthrology etc.) is linked to the BSR techniques you are learning.
The morning classes generally focus on Philosophy (giving you an insight into the philosophy behind BSR), the Principles of BSR (to give you a full understanding of the Principles under which we operate), Communication (to provide you with the skills to confidently communicate with clients and others about BSR in your own practice), Client Management (to give you the skills to assess and deal effectively with your clients), and Anatomy (essential for technique as well as communicating with your clients).
The afternoon classes generally focus on Technique, both theoretical and practical. Every evening you are expected to revise what you have learnt in class each day. There are also weekly tests to ensure you understand everything as the course progresses.
The course is designed and taught in such a way that it is like a series of interlinking blocks – every day you build on your knowledge and by the time you reach the end of the course all the pieces form a complete whole. You will be amazed at the knowledge and confidence you will have gained during the course and will be fully equipped to start your new career as a BSR practitioner.
It’s not all hard work, however! You will have time for leisure activities alongside your studies, with your group of like-minded students and future colleagues. There are wonderful woodlands and waterways to discover in the vicinity, as well as charming villages, quiet cycle ways and paths, miles of peaceful country lanes, and wonderful coastal walks along Norfolk’s beaches, as well as everything the City of Norwich has to offer including its magnificent cathedral and a medieval castle.
The Apprenticeship
The apprenticeship takes place over the last two weeks of the course, where you have the opportunity – under supervision of the teachers –to work on real clients. You are encouraged to find your own clients (a great experience for when you’re ready to start your own practice) and it is an incredibly exciting time as, for the first time, you will experience working on members of the public. The feedback you get from your clients after their first and second appointments will make all those weeks of studying so worthwhile.
The Teachers
Your six teachers are all highly qualified, enthusiastic, and experienced BSR practitioners, each of whom run their own very successful practices when they are not at the Academy. At any one time, two teachers run the course on a two-week rotation. The classes are kept small to ensure you all receive the highest level of tuition in both the theory and practical elements of the course.
The Teachers are all passionate about BSR and want to share their knowledge, training you to become the future generation of BSR practitioners. Their aim is to ensure that by the time you graduate as a BSR practitioner you have exceeded the high standards set by the Academy and are fully equipped to begin your new career.

Wouter van’t Blik’s Story
Class of 23/24
My Journey to Becoming a BSR Practitioner
At 14, I experienced Body Stress Release (BSR) for the first time. I was struggling with severe migraines, constant nervousness, and nausea—lingering effects of an illness that had left my body stuck in fight-or-flight mode. While this protective response allowed me to return to school and sports, it also caused tension and compensations in other areas of my body, eventually leading to new problems.
Thanks to BSR, my body released the built-up tension, and my symptoms gradually disappeared. The improvement wasn’t temporary — it was a lasting solution. Over the years, I relied on BSR for other issues, like a sports injury and whiplash after a car accident. These experiences sparked my growing interest in health and recovery, and I began to see the incredible potential of this technique for others.
Why I Chose to Become a Practitioner
Eleven years after my first BSR-release, I never imagined I’d train to become a BSR practitioner myself. But when the opportunity to enroll at the Body Stress Release Academy in England arose, I didn’t hesitate. It marked the beginning of an intense yet rewarding journey.
The first weeks of training were challenging. I had to adjust to studying again, learning in English, and working closely with a group of new people. However, the structure of the program and the support from instructors and classmates made the process enjoyable. We quickly became a tight-knit group, helping each other through the program and learning from one another’s strengths.
The BSR technique itself was a revelation — a logical, hands-on approach that addresses the body’s ability to release tension. It’s different from many conventional methods, but it makes perfect sense once you understand how the body compensates for stress and strain.
The Training Experience
The Academy offers a focused and supportive learning environment. The small class sizes, accessible instructors, and hands-on practice made it easier to grasp and apply the material. The supportive atmosphere was key — whether during lessons or informal moments, help was always available. The program is demanding, but you’re given all the tools to succeed.
Looking back, the training wasn’t just about acquiring a new skill. It also gave me the confidence and mindset to use what I’d learned to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Starting My Practice
After graduating, I launched my practice, BSR Mid-Fryslân (www.bsrmidfryslan.nl). It was a significant step, but I felt well-prepared. The guidance from the BSR Association and experienced practitioners helped me start quickly and efficiently. My schedule filled up faster than I expected, and it’s deeply satisfying to see clients benefit from the same techniques that once helped me.
The transition from student to practitioner comes with its challenges, but the thorough training ensures you’re ready. From mastering the technique to answering client questions, I felt confident and equipped from day one.
Why You Should Consider This Path
If you’re thinking about training to become a BSR practitioner, I can’t recommend it enough. The program is challenging, but the rewards are immense. You’ll gain not only a unique and effective skill but also the fulfillment of helping others improve their quality of life.
For me, becoming a BSR practitioner has been a truly rewarding journey. If you’re passionate about health, recovery, and making a real impact, this training might be exactly what you’re looking for.
Annet Bezemer’s Story
Class of 22/23
From being a legal advisor to becoming a BSR practitioner was quite a decision.
I followed the course at the Europe Academy in Norfolk. My time at the Academy was the best experience of my life. I loved being there in my own bubble, away from every day life. The course is amazing! You learn so much in those 16 weeks. I think back on that time with great pleasure and been back twice now just to taste a bit of that bubble.
Now being a practitioner for a year and a half, I have 24 clients a week. I love all the different stories and paths people have been on and see the progress they make in their lives because of BSR. It has brought me so much in my business- and personal life.
